Access Windows Vista Recovery Console

Insert your Windows Vista CD/DVD and reboot your computer. Ensure you have set it up to boot from CD/DVD.
After rebooting, you’ll get a screen similar to below.
Once the files are loaded, you’re presented with language selection. Select your language and click Next.
Import backed up registry file from Recovery Console

In XP or Vista/7 this should be applicable I imagine (I have not tested).
If you’ve backed up your registry prior to running any type of cleaner etc. and after running the cleaner you’re unable to boot into Windows, you can try this to get yourself out of a bind.
